May 1 Fishing Report

Cloudy, with a high near 48. Breezy, with a northwest wind 20 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 38 mph.
The wind will be blowing pretty heavily today and into tomorrow.  Things mellow out quite a bit mid week.
Creeks are clear and flowing normal for this time of year.  Water temps are in the low to mid 50s.
We're still seeing a few olives hatching, especially on days with cloud cover.  Caddis are becoming the more important hatch with both black and tan showing up on most of our creeks (sunny days are better).  We've even started to see some craneflies and fish responding to them too!
Subsurface fishing has been great on purple drank and beadis.  Any nymph with a soft hackle collar right now is effective.  Trout are keying in on movement more than anything lately.
