May 8th Fishing Report
A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a high near 61. Northeast wind 6 to 10 mph. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Some light rain came through the area early this morning, but it was only enough to barely wet the pavement. Overall our creeks are crystal clear and flowing a touch low for May. However, the fishing has been very good!
Caddis are hatching in the afternoons, and on cloud covered days we are still seeing some olives hatching too. The weather has been mild enough that we have not seen a major spike in water temperatures giving stability to stream conditions that should last through this week!
Subsurface fishing has been excellent on purple drank and scuds on cloudy days, then spanish bullets and purdygons when the sun peeks out. Most of your trout are feeding in the riffles and just below in the broken water until bugs hatch, then they will spread out into the runs and slower pools.
