August 1st Fishing Report
Mostly sunny, with a high near 84. East wind around 7 mph becoming south in the afternoon.Nothing new to report condition wise. Creeks are clear and low with temperatures in the low to high 60s with only a few creeks over 68 degrees. Remember to use your thermometer this month. Any temperatures over 65 will be slow to poor fishing and much higher than that you risk stressing trout.
We're still stuck in a drought which means flows are lower than normal and aquatic vegetation is thicker than normal. The morning is really the only time for consistent fishing right now. Trico spinners and small terrestrials are working, and droppers will catch fish in the higher gradient areas of the creeks where weed growth is not too thick.
The shop starts its summer sales this month too! Save on select rods, waders, boots, clothing and more! Fish early, swing in mid day to restock supplies and check out the sales, eat an early dinner, then head out on the water for the last couple hours (and sometimes into dark!) of fishing.
