February 20th Fishing Report
The shop is getting some painting done and will not be open until Saturday.
Sunny, with a high near 49. Southeast wind 9 to 14 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.
Creeks are low, clear, and in some cases weedy. The drought we were left with from last season is still here unfortunately with most of our area still in an extreme drought. We need more precipitation!
With the warmer weather, fishing has been ok. We're seeing a few midges and winter stoneflies hatching and even a smattering of olives too. Subsurface fishing has been best dead drifting leech patterns and twitching them every once in a while. Scuds and pink squirrels have also been effective below riffles. We still have a little snow on the ground that is slowly melting, so make sure to continue to use your thermometer. Once snowmelt hits the creeks and water temperature stops climbing or starts dropping, the fishing slows down to a crawl.
