April 12th Fishing Report

Mostly sunny, with a high near 56. Breezy, with a northwest wind 9 to 14 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 29 mph.

Creeks are still very low and clear with good temperatures (around low 50s) area wide.  We are seeing olives daily right around mid day,
While the fishing is much easier when the sun is off the water, the slight bump in water temperature triggers the flies to hatch.  Both the spring olives and upcoming caddis hatch seem to be better in the afternoon!

The exception, there was a band of heavy flushing rains running almost in a straight line North and South of La Farge last night.  These creeks flushed out and are stained first thing this morning.  They are fishable and will continue to drop through the day, but will be in EXCELLENT shape the next few days thanks to the flush and stain.

If you do not see fish rising, fish smaller thin bodied bugs or caddis larvae/pupae this time of year.  Scuds, leeches and streamers will do better when the sun is off the water.

Fishing has been good, but difficult due to spooky fish and clear water.  Be patient, and approach the creeks as stealthily as possible.
