September 25th Fishing Report
A bright and sunny day with a low of 48 and high of 74. A similar, but slightly warmer forecast for the next few days as well. Winds are variable and generally mild. No rain in the forecast.
On the surface, a few tricos are still being spotted, and a few caddis as well. We’ll still need some cooler weather, clouds and drizzle to really trigger the olive hatch. In the meantime, beetles, ants and grasshoppers are still working very well from late morning through mid afternoon. Earlier in the day, nymphing under an indicator or prospecting with a beetle and nymph dropper has been effective. Thin bodied nymphs such as perdigons, Werthers Carmel and Pearl & Orange have been doing the trick in clear water. Pink squirrels, scuds and hotspot pheasant tails have been doing well in stained water.
