October 7th Fishing Report
Areas of frost before 9am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 67. West wind 3 to 8 mph.The weather is beautiful to be out in, but the fishing is still lagging behind where it normally is this time of year. It feels like it just doesn't want to be fall, even the leaves are not changing much yet!
It's too cold to be great fishing super early, things start getting going around 9. Unfortunately that is when the sun starts shining on the water as well. Find shade, walk a little farther from the access point (when legal) and you will find happier fish.
Smaller, darker terrestrials seem to be preferred right now, with thin bodied bead heads below them. We are seeing a smattering of olives hatching in the evening (the tiny 18-20 sizes ones), but nothing we would say is a real hatch yet.
Another note, it is crowded out there. So please fish friendly. Give other anglers space. It is still common courtesy to move to another access point or another valley if there is a car at a spot. Do not hop in upstream of another Angler, and always check in with other anglers to see what their plan is.
