April 5th Fishing Report
Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 44. Breezy, with a northwest wind 13 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph.Tomorrow (Sunday) will be a bit warmer and sunnier.
Creeks are clear and low with temperatures in the mid to high 40s. The afternoons have given us some olive hatches and we are still seeing some spring stoneflies. It is still a bit early for the caddis hatch, we need warmer water temperatures for those to appear.
The fish are in pretty favorable moods, feeding well subsurface on a mix of flashy nymphs, leeches and small streamers. They are in the thigh deep water with cover early in the morning, then pushing up into the riffles and shallower water in the afternoon as the hatches begin to come off.
