July 22nd Fishing Report
Mostly sunny, with a high near 74. Northwest wind around 9 mph.A very small and localized storm cell hit our area last night dumping up to an inch of rain in some valleys. We still have fishable water, but do not be surprised by a few murky creeks this morning. Things will drop and clear out quickly as the storm hit before dark last night.
The fishing has been quite good for summertime thanks to these recent rains and cooler temperatures. We are getting water temps down in the mid 50s to low 60s.
Fishing is best early using emergers and soft hackles as well as small parachutes. Mid day it is terrestrial time! Fish a hopper/dropper or ant or beetle below overhanging structure.
Subsurface is where the fishing really is though. A bead head zebra, red copper john, or energizer squirrel will do wonders along with the standard summertime bead heads.
Do not neglect streamers and leeches (and mice at night!) especially in cloudy creeks!
