March 8th Fishing Report
Sunny, with a high near 58. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the afternoon.Creeks are clear and flowing well with temperatures in the low 40s. So far the snow has not impacted the clarity of the creeks, but it is still dropping water temperatures in the afternoon slowing fishing down.
It is warm enough today to potentially see some significant snowmelt of the shaded areas and north facing slopes. This could muddy things up. We will keep you updated.
Fish are very happy as the water temperature is rising. Feeding on midges and winter stoneflies on the surface and scuds, mayfly nymphs, and leeches subsurface. They are in a great mood until the water temperature starts to drop, then the fishing slows down to shuts down completely. In the later afternoon you can still get some fish to eat fishing a larger leech pattern to get their attention, but the window for good winter fishing is 10-2.
