March 9th Fishing Report
Mostly sunny, with a high near 64. Breezy, with a south wind 9 to 14 mph increasing to 16 to 21 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 32 mph.Yesterday the creeks were spared from muddy water. Area wide, there was not enough melt to blow things out and most creeks are crystal clear.
With the heat today and the potential rain tomorrow things have a chance at muddying up a bit. We will keep you posted.
In the meantime, fishing was quite good yesterday! Fish were rising early and continuing to feed on the surface until mid afternoon. Midges and winter stoneflies were everywhere along with the random BWO.
Nick had his client catching fish on a size 12 training wheel!
Subsurface fishing is trending towards more thick bodied patterns such as scuds and pink squirrels. While the small thin bodied patterns are less popular, they are still essential on the clear and slow flowing areas.
