May 21st Fishing Report
Showers and thunderstorms before 3pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 3pm and 4pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4pm. High near 74. South wind 11 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.Creeks are clear and still low. The rains that have fallen have been soaked right into the ground and have not touched the creeks at this point. The trout are quite happy with the cloud cover though! Look for fish to be feeding in the riffles and the runs right below. We've been having the best success subsurface on scuds, food, and pink squirrels.
The surface bite is a bit slower right now. While fish will feed on parachutes and klinkhammers in the riffles, the major hatches are a bit slower with the clouds in the sky. If the sun pops out again, look for caddis to hatch.
