April 5th Fishing Report
Showers likely, mainly after 4pm. Cloudy, with a high near 51. Southeast wind 7 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.Creeks are clear to slightly stained with temperatures in the mid to high 40s.
It's dreary outside! Which makes fly anglers happy right now. Our water levels are still quite low and the fish very spooky. The clouds and stained water helps anglers be a bit more stealthy and keeps the trout from being impossibly spooky. Always approach with as much caution and stealth as you can.
Olives are hatching on most creeks in the afternoon, and we are seeing a handful of spring stoneflies too. Subsurface scud fishing has been fantastic as has leech fishing or nymphing with thicker bodied bugs.
