April 25th Fishing Report
A chance of sprinkles after 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 41. Breezy, with a west wind 6 to 11 mph increasing to 12 to 17 mph in the afternoon.Creeks are clear to slightly stained with temperatures right around 50.
On cloudier days we are still seeing BWO mayflies hatching with fish feeding on the surface in the afternoon and into the evening. If the sun peeks out, caddis will show up too. It has not been consistent enough weather for caddis to hatch everywhere, but they are ready! The rocks are covered with larvae and we have seen some decent numbers hatching when we actually see the sun!
Otherwise, fishing a foam dry fly with a dropper is working very well. The foam is imitating a spring stonefly so make sure it is dark in color.
Subsurface fishing has been hot on scuds and brush hogs as well as fish eating anything with a bit of movement to it.
The creek lamprey have been around for about a week now, so do not forget to try something large and olive especially on the creeks that you see the small, circular spawning beds in the riffles.
