May 19th Fishing Reprot
Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 64. Northwest wind 5 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. The band of rain last night hit from Westby on north dropping an inch to 3 inches of rain last night. While this will clear up pretty quickly, from the shop and south, our creeks only got about 1/10 an inch to a quarter inch of rain total. In other words, it is clear from VIroqua on south!
Fish have been loving beetles on the surface as well as hippie stompers and smaller training wheels through the day. WIth the changing weather, the caddis hatch is not as predictable, but watch for spalshy rises as you can run into a short hatch at any time in the afternoon!
Subsurface fishing has been best with purple drank, small euro squirrels, and scuds when the clouds are overhead. On the creeks that got rain; scuds, squirmy wormies, and leeches will do well as things being to drop.
