July 11th Fishing Report
A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 3pm and 5pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 83. West wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.The sun will shine quite a bit this week. The creeks are very low and clear with temperatures in the low to mid 60s. It is thermometer time. Make sure the water you are fishing is at 65 degrees or lower for best fishing, and to keep from overly stressing trout With sunny weather and warmer summer temperatures, you will find the best fishing very early, very late, and on shaded or headwater creeks. Chase cooler water temps and you will find happy fish!
It's hopper/dropper season in the Driftless! Fishing a foam beetle, ant, or hopper on the surface with a small, thin bodied bead head below is the best way to catch fish right now. Early and late you could see some rising fish, so have a few CDC and elk caddis and some simple klinkhammers in both a light and dark color and you will have the hatches pretty much covered.
