August 31st Fishing Report

Sunny, with a high near 82. West wind 5 to 9 mph.
A bit warmer today through Friday, but still incredibly comfortable for the dog days of summer!  The weekend cools down a bit.
It is all about terrestrials right now.  As our aquatic insects have slowed down quite a bit, ants, beetles, and grasshoppers are making up the vast majority of the trout's diet.  Make sure you fish them in broken water in and below the riffles.  Typically in the summertime, the fish you see in the holes and pools will not be all that willing to play.
The summer standby of a hopper with a dropper will work all day long.  If there are rising fish, using a simple parachute or a missing link caddis pattern will get them to eat.
