May 8th Fishing Report
mostly sunny, with a high near 68. South wind 6 to 11 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.
Creeks are clear with temperatures in the middle 50s. It is still chilly at night, so no reason to get out at dawn as things do not start moving until later in the morning as the creeks warm up a bit. The caddis hatch is spotty, but fish are rising to tan caddis later in the day. Otherwise, we are fishing beetles with bead heads below. Something with a bit of flash like the Dr. Fauci has been great lately.
With another peak season weekend, we encourage you to remember to respect landowner’s property (conservation easements only give you about 10 feet of bank, do not wander away from stream side, you will be trespassing!) and each other. Don’t start fishing upstream of another angler, if there is a car at a bridge and you can not check in with the angler, move to a different spot. Just communicate and check in.
