September 3rd Fishing Report

Showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 4pm. High near 86. South wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Scattered rain this morning is more than welcome! We have received just under 1/4 of an inch of rain in the past 24 hours. This is not enough to change the clarity of the creeks, but it is a great start to cooling things down for the weekend. Today and tomorrow are still hot, but Saturday is much more mild and the overnight temperatures over the holiday weekend are much more trout friendly.

Cloudy skies are our friend. If the clouds stay overhead, fishing will remain decent. It is still summertime, so make sure to check water temperatures, and focus on subsurface fishing. When the clouds are out, and the ground stays damp, terrestrials do not move around as much and trout aren’t looking out for them necessarily.

Use scuds, micro leeches, perdigons, and even worm patterns under the clouds and drizzle.
