Just a quick rain updated. The rains fell much more gently than we expected and scouting water mid day today was surprising. There is much more fishable water out there (clear to medium stain) than we expected, The forecast is calling for drizzle the rest of the day and tomorrow so clarity overall should not be an issue.

The wind, however, is brutal gusting in the mid 30 mph.

The outlook for the last couple days of season is brighter than we were expecting.

Showers, mainly after 2pm. High near 53. Breezy, with an east wind 10 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Today and through tomorrow we will have high winds and a chance of some much needed rain showers. While this will be excellent for the creeks, it will not be so favorable to anglers.
Today through Saturday the wind will be gusting from 30-40 miles per hour and rains from anywhere between 1/2 and inch today to 2 inches on Friday might fall. Not the best way to wrap up the last few days of season!
In high winds and cloud cover, leeches and streamers work well as you do not have to accurately cast to get fish to eat! If you find some shelter, subsurface fishing will be solid on scuds, pink squirrels and purple drank. This also holds true if the water muddies up on Friday and into Saturday. The above mentioned flies as well as squirmy wormies will catch fish in limited visibility water.

Today looks nice, tomorrow and through Saturday the forecast is for rain and breezy. Friday might see up to 2 inches of rain. Brain your rain jacket for the last few days of season (we have some on end of year sale here in the shop too!)
Creeks are clear and low with temperatures in the low 50s. Excellent fishing conditions for the fall despite the low flows.
Nymphs and leeches first thing in the morning fished under a big foam pattern (edible indicator). As the sun comes out and warms things up, more fish will start to eat the foam terrestrial. In the afternoon we are seeing fish rise to olives. While it is not an incredible hatch, there are pods of rising fish on most of our creeks.

Mostly sunny, with a high near 56. Northwest wind 5 to 13 mph.
Creeks are low and clear with excellent fall water temperatures. Fishing starts slowly as the mornings have been cold, but starts to gain momentum around 9 or 10. Terrestrials with a dropper all day long, and we are seeing more and more sipping the little olive mayflies off the surface in the afternoon/evening.
With the cooler weather, the leech and streamer bite has been a bit better too.
Season ends after the 15th of october and is closed until the first Saturday in january.

Showers likely, mainly between 2pm and 5pm. Cloudy, with a high near 51. Breezy, with a west wind 8 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Some clouds and potential drizzle forecasted for today, then spotty cloud cover over the weekend.
The temperatures are incredible! Lows dipping into the 30s and high in the 50s. This cold weather should kick start some fall feeding. Along with the normal terrestrial fishing from mid day into the afternoon, we should see the return of the olive hatch later in the day.
Creeks are clear and still very low, so approach your spots with caution. Focus on the riffles and broken water and the undercut banks below the riffles for best success!

The low flows still have fish spooky, so concentrate on riffles and runs, as well as undercut banks and shaded areas. WIth the cooler weather, watch for the olive hatch to come back in the afternoons too.
As the temperatures dip over the weekend (and hopefully some clouds show up) the leech and streamer bite will start to pick up as well.

The season closes after October 15th. Get out there and fish!

Mostly sunny, with a high near 75. Southwest wind 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
Creeks are low and clear with temperatures in the mid 50s. Nothing too special today, some slight cloud cover will help make trout a bit more comfortable. However, looking at the long term forecast, we are starting to get excited for an excellent cool down coming up! Tomorrow will be right around 70, Friday a high of 52! This should trigger some excellent fall fishing as things cool down further and the olive hatch should return as well.
In the meantime, fishing a hopper or beetle with a dropper is key. When things cool down we should see the olive hatch return, and the streamer/leech bite should pick back up again too!

The odd heat wave moves out after today dropping temps way down later this week (Friday’s high is 52). This should put things back on track for solid fishing.
In the heat and sun, we are going back to summer style fishing. While the water temps are quite good, fish activity is better in the morning and evening on these warmer, sunny days.
Hoppers, beetles, and ants are still the main thing on the menu. We hope to see the return of the olive mayfly hatch later this week.

Warm-ish and sunny today and tomorrow, then temperatures dip back into fall territory!
Fishing has been solid, we’re still in an extreme drought and creeks are very low and have spooky fish, but with the turn of the season at least the trout are finally happy!
Terrestrials with a dropper have been key lately all day long. The olive hatch slowed down a bit with a few fish sipping in the afternoon. When things cool down again we expect the bugs to become re-energized.

Mostly sunny, with a high near 84. South wind 6 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Creeks are low and clear with temperatures in the mid 50s area wide.
Unseasonably warm weekend, but it should not have a negative effect on the fishing. With the sun out, it dries the bankside vegetation earlier making terrestrial fishing good all day long.
Some olives are still hatching in the late afternoon and evening. Watch for sipping rises later in the day.
We’re still in a drought and the creeks are low, so use stealth when approaching!
We are nearing the end of season (no fishing starting October 16) and the creeks can get crowded with people getting their last few days of fishing in. Please be considerate and respectful of other anglers and landowners! The general rule of thumb: If there is a car at an access point, you move to the next one so you do not crowd other anglers. We have lots of water to explore here.
Please do not hop in upstream of other anglers too. We fish upstream in the Driftless, and cutting someone off or ‘high holing’ is not cool.
Finally, make sure you know what is legal access and what is not. There is no excuse for trespassing. Use map books and apps as a guide not a gospel, they all have errors.
Remember to thank any landowners you see. They are the reason we enjoy public access on our area waters!
