Early next week is not looking good at all!  There is actually an extreme heat watch for Monday and Tuesday, with highs in the upper 90s and nights not dropping below 70 degrees.

The streams will warm up quickly and stay warm, the fishing will slow down considerably, and it can be downright dangerous for humans to be out in the sun much less the stress it can cause trout.

If you have an option, we highly recommend skipping trout fishing next week.  If you are out there, please use your thermometer (anything over 65 degrees water temp will be poor fishing) and fish super early in the day to take advantage of a little better water temperatures.  And, stay shaded, hydrated and safe in the heat!

It’s finally here!  Winston has been developing this rod for quite some time.  We will spare you the fancy marketing talk for now, but know that this is not your average 5 weight.  Incredible smoothness and a light feel while casting and fishing, it makes you think more of a 3 weight than your big, heavy western 5 weight rod.  This is not, however, a rod that will collapse with a stiff headwind, or while tossing a foam beetle and a dropper (or even a driftless sized mouse!).  With the ability to paint a small dry fly accurately on the water, but with the muscle to handle anything you will ever fish in the Driftless, this is one of the absolute best rods we have fished here in a very long time!

Quantities are limited early on, we are accepting backorders for this rod.  We have a couple in the shop right now, and more coming in the middle of June.  Pre orders qualify for free freight and free fly line.

The weather forecast looks great compared to what we saw earlier this week.  No more rain in the forecast for our Drive In Fly Fishing Show in Richland Center today.  Doors open at 3, tickets will be available at the box office entrance.

Keep in mind there is some road construction going on at the theater entrance.  Travelling east, you can still use the left hand turn lane and drive over the gravel to get into the theater entrance.  Travelling west, go slowly and use some caution, you can sneak between the construction barrels and turn in.
