Creeks are exceptionally low and clear with temperatures in the high 50s to mid 60s. We do have some creeks with temperatures over 65 and up to the 70s. While the fish are not boiling in these creeks (they hang out near the springs sipping the cool water), fishing for them is potentially fatal and just not responsible. Please use your thermometer.
Overall fishing is difficult due to the low water and high aquatic vegetation growth. Luckily the temperatures have been stable and morning fishing still remains good. Mid day and afternoon are not quite as good unless there is cloud cover. The evening bite is good for a couple hours after the sun goes down below the ridges.
Beetles, ants, smaller hoppers are all good on the surface. Where you can effectively nymph, smaller and thin bodied bugs are good.

The weather this week is quite nice for summertime! Creeks, for the most part, are still flowing with a decent temperature, but they are still very low and weed choked. Some to the point that they are dry fly only!
A few tricos in the morning, then small training wheels (especially purple royal and cricket colors!) and beetles throughout the day have been effective. In the spots you can nymph effectively, purdygons and purple drank are doing well.

Creeks are still very low and clear, some recent rains have had a small positive impact, but we are in need of more water.
The weather is looking quite nice for this week with highs barely touching the low 80s and over nights in the high 50s. Fishing isn’t great, but the weather is very angler friendly right now.

Morning fishing has been solid with fish eating a few trico spinners and smaller ants and beetles on the surface. Subsurface has been good with the normal purdtgons, zebras and brush hogs. Afternoons have been ok on small hoppers with a short dropper, but only when we have some decent cloud cover. The last couple hours of the day when the sun is off the water and mousing and streamers into the night have caught fish too.

This weekend will finally be a BIT of a relief from the hot and dry weather. We have had an inch or two in the last 36 hours here. While that is not enough to change the creeks too much (some slightly stained this morning) the fish are in a far better mood in the mornings. Fishing is still slower after mid day until the last two hours of the evening.
The weekend weather is looking pleasant with lows in the mid 50s to 60 and highs in the low to mid 80s.
Tricos are sparse, but they are around on a few creeks in the mornings. Beetles and ants have been fantastic lately on the surface, and the parachute adams hatch is on in full force (have a few 14 and 18s)
Subsurface fishing is still difficult due to the weed growth this year (no rain to flush weeds, they are good for the creeks, but make fishing tough) but purdygons and crooked PTs as well as zebra midges are doing well.

Up to 3/4 of an inch of rain finally fell area wide yesterday. While this will not move the needle much in terms of water levels, it was a welcome relief (and the fish were crazy happy yesterday with the clouds and rain!)
Mild today, a bit warmer on Friday, but a very pleasant weather weekend forecasted (83 Saurday, 79 Sunday, 73 Monday!) with cooler overnight temperatures. This will really help the morning bite.
Water temperatures are still an issue, but only on the biggest waters (West Fork, Bad Axe watersheds etc) Smaller creeks and tributaries are in decent shape in the mornings.
We are seeing tricos here and there early, then fishing small ants, beetles, and hoppers to mid day. Fishing is still shutting down mid day (unless we have cloud cover) and will pick up again in the late evening before sunset.
We still need some rains to fill the creeks. While we are lucky that temperatures are mostly stable thanks to cool weather, the low flows are making fishing difficult. Please use your thermometer and avoid anything in the high 60s water temperature wise.

The weather is very nice in the mornings, and through the day it isn’t blazing hot. So why are we still reporting poor afternoon fishing? Lack of rain. We have had little to no rain since the springtime and the creeks are showing it. Water flows are very low, and temperatures are climbing quickly mid day. We also have had no ‘flush’ of the creeks so the vegetation growth in stream is very thick and very high making some spots impossible to fish.

Luckily the past few days have been cooler. We are still encouraging people to check water temps as things are still not great for trout out there. Anything over 65 we recommend fishing a different location.
While it has lightly rained, we are still at only about 1/2 in the past 72 hours. Not nearly what we need to get things back in great shape.

On the cooler waters, we are seeing tricos in the morning time now! Early is the best time to fish as water temperatures are lowest, and fish will be happy if the tricos are around!

We have not received any rain since early in the springtime. Creeks are extremely low and starting to warm up to levels that can be lethal to trout. Please remember to use a thermometer. Anything over 65 will be slow fishing. 68 and above can kill trout.

We’re putting temporary hours into effect starting July 1. We encourage you to fish very early in the day, then swing by to grab your gear and let the trout rest mid day. In the evening, fishing can pick up again, but please make sure to check temperatures.

Still no rain. Creeks are starting to warm up a bit (as they normally do this time of year) so please use your thermometer. Anything over 65 is probably a bad idea to fish.
The morning fishing has still been viable, but not great. Evenings are typically the last hour or maybe two before the sun goes down. This hot and dry year is not great for trout fishing in the Driftless. While there are still fish to be caught and creeks that can be fished responsibly, it might not be a bad idea to postpone trips until we get a cold front or, more importantly, some rains.
