Fish are eating indicator flies and beetles with a dropper when there is no surface activity. Concentrate on the riffles and undercut banks. WIth the clouds today fish may feel safer and move out into the thigh deep runs to feed today as well. Without the sun, the possibility of catching fish all day long is possible.
When fish are rising they are eating craneflies, egg laying caddis, and some lighter colored mayflies (Sulphurs, cahill, pmd).

Creeks are very low and clear with temperatures in the high 50s to low 60s. Only the larger bodies of water are running over 65 degrees in the afternoon. The cool nights and mornings have really done the fishery wonders. While mid day fishing is still grind, the early and late hatch/spinner falls have been good to us! Watch for lighter colored mayflies, craneflies, and some egg laying caddis. Subsurface activity has been good on purdygons, purple drank and brush hogs.
If we get some cloud cover, the mid day fishing will be good on beetles and hippie stompers with a bead head below. If we do not get cloud cover, seriously consider a siesta and waiting for the evening to focus your fishing efforts.

We’re still waiting on any kind of rain. Thankfully the air temperatures have stabilized and it isn’t blazing hot anymore. Fishing is still solid very early and later in the day (siesta mid day!).
Creeks are very low and clear with temperatures in the high 50s to low 60s. We do have a couple of lower sections and larger creeks that are too warm to fish, so please use your thermometer and avoid anything at 65 or warmer.
We’re seeing quite a bit of bug activity with sulphurs, cahills, and isonychia mayflies hatching typically in the evening. There are some caddis and craneflies hanging still around too.
While the bugs can be abundant from time to time the trout just do not want to eat them with the clear water. So, a beetle with a bead head below does the trick. Remember to move those bugs as fish are keying in on the actively hatching and vulnerable stages of insects right now. A twitch can make the difference between a fish eating and ignoring your offering!

Thankfully the oppressive heat has gone away. We still need some rain, but the fishing has picked up with the more normal temperatures. Mid day is still very difficult, but mornings on terrestrials and bead heads, and evenings on a mix of lighter colored mayflies (sullphurs, PMDs).
When in doubt, a hippie stomper with a bead head below will catch you some fish!

We get a break from the crushing heat with highs in the mid 70s for the next couple of days. Creeks are still very low and clear though (we still need rain badly) and fish are super spooky. Remember to fish any bit of shade you can find, concentrate from sunup to about 10 and dinner time until sundown for the best fishing. Trout are far more willing to eat in the broken, riffle water than they are the deep flat pools too.
Beetles and ants are working well early (the hippie stomper hatch is on!) part of the day with thin bodied bead heads tied below. In the evening, lighter colored mayflies, craneflies, and egg laying caddis are getting fish to rise.

Fishing early in the morning has been solid on ants and foam flies with a dropper. Things tend to shut down around 11 then pick up again in the later evening. At night fish are rising to craneflies and lighter colored mayflies (PMD/Sulphur).

The mornings are still fishing well with a beetle and a bead head below. Hatches are sparse right now with a few caddis and cranes and some lighter colored mayflies coming off, but hatch activity is low for this time of year.
Fish early, find some shade, and fish the last two hours of the day. We are in summer conditions right now and we need to change tactics. If some rain finally hits the creeks (and we need a lot to percolate into the springs) it should reset the fishing to get back on track, but it is very difficult right now.

We have had a high pressure, sunny weather system over us for well over a month now and the creeks are starting to show it. Fish are super spooky mid day, and water temperatures are getting warm enough that we are starting to use thermometers. We need rain badly!
The silver lining, if you can get up early, the morning fishing is good until about 10 or 11. At night, the last hour or maybe 2 can be good as well.
Caddis, craneflies, light colored mayflies, and terrestrials are all good on the surface. Subsurface we are focusing on thinner bodied, dark nymphs (zebra midge, purdygon, pearl jam)

Water is low and fish are spooky as a result. Fish early and late for the best and most comfortable fishing. Skip the mid day to give trout (and yourself) a break during this low water/warm temp period.
