Nothing super special to report about the weekend. While the daytime temperatures are pretty warm, thankfully the nights have been getting down to around 60 keeping water temperatures in good shape.
Terrestrials are key until we get cooler weather. Ants and small beetles early, then switch to foam with a dropper mid day. If fish are rising, throwing something generic and purple at them will work most of the time.

We’re still looking at a few warm-ish days ahead. Nothing too disastrous, but the mid day will be pretty warm all weekend. We are seeing some cloud cover today, and potential clouds and rain through the weekend. Right now, if you find shade, you will find fish. The bright sunny skies and low water have not been friendly to fishing!
Hatches and spinner falls are pretty sparse and will remain so until we get a bit cooler weather (it is coming soon hopefully!), so stick with your ants, beetles and hoppers and your small thin bodied bead heads fished in the riffles.
Creeks are clear and low with temperatures in the high 50s to low 60s.

Looking at the long term forecast, things will cool down to temperatures in the high 70s and low 80s for the weekend (with clouds!).
Water temperatures are still quite good overall, and we are just playing the waiting game to see when things will cool down significantly (looks like right around the 18th)
Trout seem to be playing the waiting game right now too. The fishing is good, but once we get cooler temps or clouds/rain things will get much better!
The menu is late season simple. Terrestrials (small ants and beetles as well as hopper/dropper) and some mayflies in the afternoons. Subsurface fishing has been solid on pretty much anything fished in, and below riffles.

We’re still stuck in the sunny sky and clear water cycle. Until we see some clouds and rain the fishing will be pretty average. Still fun in the mornings and evenings, but it has not been anything to get too excited about the past few days.
Starting Friday we are forecasted for some clouds and hopefully some rain. This should be a switch that makes trout feed more aggressively and not be so spooky!
It’s peak terrestrial time here, with beetles and ants doing very well with smaller hoppers in lighter colors doing well. We are seeing sporadic olives in the afternoons, but the hatch is not solid yet, a little cooler weather and we should be able to enjoy an afternoon hatch through the rest of the season.

Scattered showers before 2pm, then isolated sprinkles between 2pm and 4pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 81. Light and variable wind becoming south 9 to 14 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
A sprinkle or two today and some spotty cloud cover early should have trout in a better mood. We’re playing the waiting game right now. Things will get really good quickly as soon as the hot weather goes away and we get consistently cooler temperatures (rain and clouds would help a lot too). Right now, that looks like it might happen starting Saturday.
Trout are still eating on the surface on beetles, ants, and hoppers as well as simple parachute Adams or parachute purples. Subsurface fishing has been best on thin bodied bugs fished right in and below the riffles.

Creeks are a bit low and clear with temperatures in the high 50s to low 60s. Temperatures will slowly climb this week into the mid 80s, then back to 80 by the weekend. Fishing has been a bit more difficult than it should be because of the ultra clear and low flows. Trout are extremely spooky so use as much stealth and caution as you can when approaching your spot.
Late last week we did start to see the beginnings of an afternoon olive hatch, while that MIGHT stick around, typically the warmer temps will have them holding off until things cool down again.
Terrestrials are key, as are simple generic dry flies on the surface. Subsurface fishing is best on thinner bodied bugs.

Incredible weather this weekend just to be outside. Creeks are a bit low and very clear with temperatures in the mid to high 50s. Fishing is very difficult due to the sunny skies. We are keeping our fingers crossed that a hatch of some sort comes off in the afternoon this weekend to get fish going. The chillier weather has terrestrials a bit sluggish, so your best bet is to fish subsurface early in the day, and switch to hopper/dropper when things warm up a bit.

Creeks are clear and a bit low, temperatures are in the high 50s to low 60s area wide.
The cloud cover today will keep fishing solid all day long. Tricos in the mornings (although the spinner fall is starting to disappear), smaller terrestrials with a dropper in the daytime, and a slim chance of a late summer olive hatch in the afternoon with this cooler weather.
Fishing has been quite fun drifting a seam sipper, or greased lightning in the seams below the riffles and next to the banks. Dry fly fishing has been better than normal during this time of season on many of our creeks.
When in doubt, put on a beetle with a dropper, or a smaller hopper.
The weather holds all weekend long with Saturday only hitting 67 degrees and Sunday’s high in the mid 70s. A great weekend to be out on the driftless trout streams!

A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 9am and 4pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 77. Light and variable wind becoming northwest 5 to 9 mph in the morning. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
A little bit of cloud cover today would be excellent for fishing. Things are in quite good shape temperature wise for this time of year. Creeks are clear and a bit low, but still fishing well. The larger creeks are still a bit warm, but the middle sections and headwaters are flowing below 60 degrees.
The next few days will be pleasantly mild, with next week warming up into the lower 80s again unfortunately. Take advantage of this fall weather preview as fishing is usually quite good later in the morning on the first few chilly days.
Terrestrials with droppers will be the ticket, and watch for some afternoon mayfly hatches of small olives as they might show up with the cooler temperatures.

Fishing has been solid in the mornings lately, and a few more fish being picked up throughout the middle portion of the day, despite the sun shining on the water. Creeks are clear and a bit low with temperatures in the high 50s to low 60s. Prime summer conditions and things are lining up for a good cool down this weekend!
We are still seeing Tricos in the mornings with trout rising to the spinner fall from just after sunrise to about 10 on most days. After that we switch to terrestrials with a dropper, or seam sippers on the surface. There are the beginnings of the fall olive hatch (turn over some rocks and look at the bug life!) but it won’t be here until things cool down a bit more (maybe this weekend?)
The leech and streamer bite is starting to increase with the slowly dropping water temperatures, and mousing at night remains enjoyable.
