Things are starting to wake up. Reports of olives and spring stones came in yesterday, and with the warming weather, we expect that to continue.

Nothing major weather wise. Trout seem to have transitioned into springtime well and are feeding in the runs, seams, and even riffles starting later in the morning.
We are still not seeing any major surface activity with most fish being caught subsurface on scuds and larger nymphs.

The week ahead will be a bit overcast which will help the fishing as our water remains low and clear.

With the melting snow hitting the creeks, fishing is all about managing the melt. The problem is cold water entering the system from snowmelt. Things aren’t too muddy out there as the majority of creeks are in good, fishable shape. But once the cold water hits, things shut down rapidly. Remember to use your thermometer and watch for temperature drops in the afternoon.
Cloudy days like today help to keep the sun from melting things too quickly!
Focus on fishing scuds, caddis larvae/pupae, and flashier bugs in the stained water. Midges and thin bodied bugs subsurface in the clearer water. Hatches remain sparse, with a few sightings of blue winged olives.

We received a bit of rain, plus about 1-2 inches of snow area wide yesterday. Things are a bit messy on the roads this morning. Be very careful if you are driving.
Fishing will be ok throughout the next couple of days until this snow starts to melt. Once the melt hits the water and cools it down, fishing will slow down or shut off completely. Make sure to use your thermometer.
If it will muddy things up is still up in the air. Since the ground has been so dry, we are hoping that most of the slow melting snow will soak in and not make things muddy. If it warms up too quickly, then we will have iced chocolate.

We received about 1/4 of an inch of rain last night leaving our creeks clear to slightly stained. Most of the rain soaked into the ground so there is little to no worry about muddy conditions out there.
Leeches and scuds remain the best producing patterns out there, as well as some caddis larvae and other thicker bodied patterns.

Fish are starting to feed fairly early once the sun hits the water. We are seeing hatches, especially in the early afternoon of midges and a few olives. Otherwise we are fishing subsurface with scuds, leeches, and thin bodied nymphs with a bit of flash.
