NEW Scott GT rods in stock!

New GT rods are lighter and sportier than their predecessors yet still possess smooth progressive actions, tremendous feedback, and incredible tippet protection that have kept dedicated anglers fishing the previous three generations of these rods for almost 50 years.
We have been lucky enough to fish these rods for a while now and are incredibly impressed. Somehow the wizards at Scott Rods made one of our favorite rods cast, fish and feel even better!

SEASON CLOSES AFTER TODAY!

And what a note to end on. About 1 inch of rain last night and drizzle and clouds predicted all day today. Should be some incredible fishing out there.

The shop is only open until noon.

Remember there is NO TROUT FISHING allowed after today on our waters. Not even catch and release.

The shop will close for a bit so the team can take a well deserved break. Please email us with any questions you have.

CALL TO ACTION. EMAIL BEFORE MONDAY.

Email your opposition to two large CAFOs trying to come into Crawford County.

dtroester@co.crawford.wi.gov

The county to the south of us is taking comments this weekend (get them in ASAP) on the proposed siting of TWO major pig farms. The company behind it is skirting the laws by splitting their operation into two sites with one animal below the limit for extra oversight on BOTH sites. Shady moves that keep them from extra oversight on what is a mega factory farm. That alone should put a hold on their applications and invite some sort of scrutiny instead of a rubber-stamp by the county.

The impacts of these factory farms is well documented and will be yet another major blow to the air, water, soil, community and infrastructure of Crawford County. Please email the county and let them know that yet another mega farm polluting our area is not in the their best interests. Highlight how far you travel to fish these waters, and let them know that their turning from Crawford County to CAFO county means you will look elsewhere to spend your time and money!

Our impact as anglers and silent sport tourists has gone unnoticed for too long!

Out of area company ruining our area for their profit yet again….

October 10th Fishing Report

Mostly cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 70. South wind 6 to 13 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 21 mph.
Inland trout season closes after the 15th of October, get out there and fish!
. Creeks remain clear and a touch low (the rain last night was onl 1/4 of an inch) with great temperatures. The clear water has made fishing very difficult as trout are incredibly spooky right now! Fish early, fish late, and chase shaded areas or broken water for the most success.
. A small grasshopper, beetle, or cricket with a thin bodied bead head below is key right now all day long. We are seeing some fish rising to olives and caddis near the end of the day too.
This is historically a very busy weekend, so please make sure to remember angling/access etiquette! If there is another car at the spot make sure you check in with any other anglers before hopping on the water. Everyone fishes in an upstream direction, so don’t head upstream of another angler and cut them off! Please also remember not to block gates, access roads, fords, or anywhere else farm equipment or people need to access their property.

October 9th Fishing Report

Sunny, with a high near 67. South wind 5 to 10 mph.
Because, as anglers, we will always find something to complain about… The water temperatures are in excellent shape in the lower to mid 50s. We’re excited about that. The bright sun and crystal clear water are making things VERY difficult out there. Fish are very spooky right now, so make sure you approach with as much stealth as possible and fish broken, choppy water and find shade wherever you can. Get those flies as close to the undercut banks as possible! Trout are not moving too far into the bright sun to eat bugs right now.
. Hopper/dropper during the day, olives and caddis in the evenings.
