Week of July 20th Fishing Report

howers and thunderstorms before 1pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 1pm and 5pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5pm. High near 88. South wind 8 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Things are finally getting back to normal here. After an extremely hot and smoky week last week temperatures are mellowing out a bit and we are back to chasing trout in the mornings. We still encourage you to use your thermometer (anything over 65 will be slow fishing)!

Tricos are showing up in the mornings along side some midges. The rest of the morning until mid day we are tossing ants, beetles and small grasshoppers near the banks and overhanging vegetation. Don’t be hesitant to tie a dropper on your more buoyant patterns, the nymphing in the mornings can be great.

Night time mousing has been fun with a few nicer fish chasing big patterns on the surface.
