October 5th Fishing Report

Sunny, with a high near 67. Light and variable wind.

Creeks are clear (still stained south of the Wisconsin River) with temperatures in the low to mid 50s.

Stable, sunny weather is here all week. The past day or two were a bit rough as trout rearranged their space,  The quick transition from a week of clouds to bright sun put them way off!  They are settling down now and a bit more happy.

It’s still VERY important to tuck your terrestrials right next to the bank all day long.  The only time it seems they venture out from shade or cover is if the olive hatch comes off in the later afternoon and evening.  Then they move out into the runs below the riffles to feed.  While you can fish all day long, it seems the most success is late in the day during the hatch.
