Drizzle and freezing rain, possibly mixed with sleet, becoming all drizzle after 3pm, then gradually ending. High near 44. Southeast wind 11 to 15 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. Little or no sleet accumulation expected. Nothing interesting after today. The warm weather today will have fish feeding, but the temperatures quickly tank back into cold until Monday.
Increasing clouds, with a high near 17. Wind chill values as low as -4. North wind 5 to 10 mph becoming east in the afternoon. Not a day to be out fishing as the wind chill is not angler friendly. Temperatures get better the next few days, but nothing really fantastic. Tomorrow we will see 40 degrees, but the clouds will spit on and off all day.
A chance of snow between 1pm and 4pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 31. West wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Looks like weird weather the rest of the week with temperatures bouncing higher and lower the normal with some winds and a little snow/rain. Overall it is still an unseasonably warm and dry winter.
Creeks are clear and running a touch low. Fish are very spooky!
Midges are hatching daily right around noon. While you may not always find a pod of rising fish, when you do, they will be feeding with abandon!
Overall, your best success will be on smaller, dark bodied flies like spanish bullets and zebra midges.
A leech pattern twitched or swung below riffles is also deadly in the winter time.
Increasing clouds, with a high near 37. West wind 6 to 9 mph. Creeks are low and clear with water temperatures in the mid to high 30s. We have had a few abnormally warm days (remember it is winter in Wisconsin and this is what we consider warm!) that has made being on the creeks tolerable! Fish are feeding in the riffles and runs on tungsten bead head nymphs (spanish bullet flies have been very effective) and scuds. Mid day, there have been some rising fish for an hour or so eating midge dries. We have also had some success fishing leeches slowly right below the riffles. With high sun and crystal clear water, the fish are spooky. Be as stealthy as possible and focus on the broken water (not the calm pools and flats) for best results.
Welcome to the new site! We tried to clean things up a bit and make everything tidier especially for your phone. If you notice anything glitchy, missing or misspelled, please do not hesitate to let us know. We will slowly be filling in the e-store as the winter progresses (after our trip to Argentina!). Thank you all for your continued support and business.
APRIL 2026 will split between the exclusive and remote waters of the Ibera marsh, and hunting big fish on the upper Parana!
Join us chasing the world’s best fish! We split the trip between hunting huge fish on the Upper Parana and the exclusive water paradise of the Ibera Marsh or the double whammy of the Isoro Marsh and Middle Parana. We are fortunate enough to cater the trip to the best conditions and offer two different experiences in the same week!
The trip takes advantage of spring or fall in Argentina, meaning you do not have to deal with the heat and bugs.
Dorado are what every fish wants to be. Explosive takes on the surface on crease flies or deceiver style flies (we fish floating lines the whole trip, with bead chain eyes being the heaviest fly fished!) and fights that are measured not on if they jump, but how many times they jump! It’s as if someone mixed bass, pike, muskie, barracuda and tarpon and made them 10 times more aggressive.
There is no other outfitter that can offer fishing a mix of the Ibera Marsh, the Upper Parana, and a lodge on the Isoro marsh and middle Parana. Your trip will be custom fit to offer you the absolute best dorado fishing. You are not stuck in one location seeing the same place or stuck with poor conditions, the flexibility our trip offers is beyond compare. It is truly a trip of a lifetime.
Trip cost is $7000 based on double occupancy. The cost includes lodging, food, all drinks, guided fishing, ground transportation to/from/between lodges. Does not include airfare and gratuity.
Please call or e-mail the shop for more details and take a look below for the itinerary.
Mat is obsessed with dorado and calls these fish the most fun you will ever have on a fly rod.
