March 7th Fishing Report

A 40 percent chance of snow, mainly before noon. Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 41. Calm wind becoming north around 6 mph in the afternoon. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
A pretty decent looking weekend ahead! The snow from the middle of the week is all but melted leaving creeks clear to slightly stained with temperatures in the high 30s area wide.
We are still seeing some spotty midge hatches that have fish rising, but most of the activity is subsurface on midge larvae, scuds, and small leeches.
Shop is open today and Saturday from 10-2. Closed Sunday and Monday starts our 7 day a week schedule with normal hours!

March 5th Fishing Report

Snow, mainly before 3pm. The snow could be heavy at times. Patchy blowing snow. Temperature rising to near 32 by noon, then falling to around 27 during the remainder of the day. Windy, with a north wind 20 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 44 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 4 to 6 inches possible.
Heavy, wet snow has been falling all morning, on top of about an inch of rain yesterday. We are celebrating the MUCH NEEDED precipitation, but it will make for some messy conditions today and probably tomorrow too.
We will, as always, keep you posted.

March 4th Precipitation Report

A chance of rain and thunderstorms, then rain and possibly a thunderstorm after 3pm. High near 49. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Creeks are low and mostly clear. Fishing has been just ok as we need some precipitation.
The good news is it looks like a little bit is moving in today and tomorrow. Rains today, and 2-4 inches of what should be heavy, moisture laden snow tomorrow. Heading into the weekend the temperatures are in the high 30s which we are hoping provides a slow melt so some of the moisture can sink into the ground.
We don’t advise travel tonight and tomorrow. Wind and rain and show do not make for a very enjoyable day on the water.

March 3rd Fishing Report

A 30 percent chance of rain, mainly before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 52. South wind around 11 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.
Nothing really noteworthy today. The clouds will help with the spooky fish, but the wind will be pretty rough today.
Tomorrow we are supposed to get some light rain, and possibly an inch of snow or more on Wednesday. This is some MUCH needed moisture that will hopefully soak into the ground and hit the springs eventually.
Later in the week things warm up again for some nice spring weather.
Shop is open 10-2 Monday-Wednesday. CLOSED THURSDAY. Then open 10-2 Friday. Saturday begins our 7 day a week hours!

March 1st Fishing Report

Shop closed Sunday, open all next week EXCEPT THURSDAY.
Sunny, with a high near 28. Northwest wind 6 to 9 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.
Creeks are clear and quite low with temperatures in the high 30s. The wind was brutal yesterday, and while calmer today the cold night will have things moving slowly until mid day today.
Hatches have been spotty and sparse which means most of the activity has been subsurface, especially on scuds and leeches.

February 28th Fishing Report

A chance of showers between 1pm and 4pm. Partly sunny, with a temperature rising to near 47 by 11am, then falling to around 36 during the remainder of the day. Windy, with a west wind 22 to 29 mph, with gusts as high as 44 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Creeks are clear to slightly stained with temperatures in the higher 30s. Overall fishing is ok, but nothing to write home about. Hatches have been sparse, but when they show up, the fish are feeding with abandon. Most of the action is subsurface on small leeches, scuds and zebra nymphs.
Heading into the weekend we get a bit of a cool down temperature wise on Saturday. It isn’t brutal and should help stabilize the fishing a bit. Sunday and next week things warm back up to spring weather.

February 27th Fishing Report

Partly sunny, with a high near 43. Breezy, with a northwest wind 9 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
Creeks are dropping and clearing after the melting day yesterday. Unfortunately, not a lot was absorbed into the ground and we remain in an early drought.
Fishing has been decent subsurface on nymphs and leeches while the surface activity has been pretty slow lately.

February 26th Fishing Report

A 30 percent chance of rain, mainly between 4pm and 5pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 44. East wind 6 to 8 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.
After a few days of warm weather, snow and ice are finally letting go in a big way. With the lack of re-freeze last night we are seeing a lot of stained to muddy water (which also happens to be very cold). Not good conditions out there today. There is fishable water in the headwater sections and on some more open meadows, but most of the day will be a ‘runoff’ day. Things should calm down by tomorrow or Friday.

February 25th Fishing Report

Sunny, with a high near 45. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming light and variable in the afternoon.
Creeks are mostly clear to a medium stain. Temperatures are good early through mid day, but start to drop (as does the fishing) once snowmelt hits the creeks.
The water levels are very low, and the fish are spooky in the clear water. Approach the creeks with as much stealth as you can.
Hatches have been mixed with a few midges mid day, and a few anglers reporting some mayflies too.
The best fishing is subsurface on small leeches, scuds, and thin bodied flies in dark colors.
The week ahead looks great weather wise,

February 23rd Fishing Report

A slight chance of flurries before 9am. Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 42. South wind 5 to 9 mph.
Creeks are extremely low and clear, temperatures are in the high 30s.
Today and tomorrow are melting days. There is still VERY little snow on the ground (we are concerned about water levels if we do not get more precipitation) but enough to melt and cool the creeks down over the next day or two.
The hatches have been very sparse, but after potential cold and murky water, the rest of the week should fish well subsurface, and if the water temps climb enough we could see some olives hatching mid day.
SHOP WILL BE OPEN ALL WEEK STARTING TUESDAY FROM 10-2
