Fishing Report

A 30 percent chance of rain, mainly between 4pm and 5pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 44. East wind 6 to 8 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.
After a few days of warm weather, snow and ice are finally letting go in a big way. With the lack of re-freeze last night we are seeing a lot of stained to muddy water (which also happens to be very cold). Not good conditions out there today. There is fishable water in the headwater sections and on some more open meadows, but most of the day will be a ‘runoff’ day. Things should calm down by tomorrow or Friday.

Sunny, with a high near 45. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming light and variable in the afternoon.
Creeks are mostly clear to a medium stain. Temperatures are good early through mid day, but start to drop (as does the fishing) once snowmelt hits the creeks.
The water levels are very low, and the fish are spooky in the clear water. Approach the creeks with as much stealth as you can.
Hatches have been mixed with a few midges mid day, and a few anglers reporting some mayflies too.
The best fishing is subsurface on small leeches, scuds, and thin bodied flies in dark colors.
The week ahead looks great weather wise,

A slight chance of flurries before 9am. Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 42. South wind 5 to 9 mph.
Creeks are extremely low and clear, temperatures are in the high 30s.
Today and tomorrow are melting days. There is still VERY little snow on the ground (we are concerned about water levels if we do not get more precipitation) but enough to melt and cool the creeks down over the next day or two.
The hatches have been very sparse, but after potential cold and murky water, the rest of the week should fish well subsurface, and if the water temps climb enough we could see some olives hatching mid day.

Cold, cold cold. It is not worth fishing right now. Things look to warm up a bit early next week with a potential melting day after the weekend. As we get a more clear picture we will let you know what’s going on, but for now, stay warm and tie flies as the wind chills are brutal and fishing is not good.

Up to 5 inches of snow forecasted today and into tomorrow. The shop might not be open Saturday depending on how much snow we get.

The creeks are extremely low and clear. There is about half an inch of snow on the ground, not nearly enough for this time of year!

We will update you on the precipitation this weekend, pray for a lot of snow so we can refresh our springs and get the water levels up!

Creeks are very low and clear. Water temps are in the mid to higher 30s.
Overall fishing is slow and spotty. While it is nice to get outside for a bit, it probably isn’t worth much of a drive.

There is still no snow on the ground, but there are some days this coming week that we might actually get some precipitation!

The entire week will be cold and windy. Shop is only open on Saturday this week.
Water is extremely low and clear, and we have yet to receive any snow.
Water temps are in the lower to mid 30s and mid day hatches are sparse. Even with the warmer weather last week fishing has not been great lately.

Mostly cloudy, with a high near 38. Northwest wind 5 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.
A good ice melting day yesterday, and no snow on the banks means we will have quite a bit more open water to fish the next few days.
Temperature wise, we are looking at 40-50 degrees the next couple of days, fantastic weather to get out there and fish.
It is still winter fishing though, and while it is pleasant outside, the fishing is still slow.
Watch for midge hatches mid day, otherwise fishing small, dark bodied nymphs deep as well as leeches and scuds is key.

The unseasonably warm week rolls on. We’re looking at temperatures around 40-50 through Friday. While it is still winter fishing, it will be a good week to take a day off and enjoy being outside.
The shelf ice on the creeks is slowly melting away, and we have zero snow on the banks (which is not good long term, but helps a lot right now in getting around easily!)
Creeks are still chilly, so focus your fishing mid day. Midges (potential hatch mid day), leeches and scuds are all effective right now.

Unseasonably warm weather, plus no snow on the banks means we have some decent winter fly fishing conditions all week long (even with the wind…). It is still unpredictable winter fishing, but it will be so nice to get outside and hit the creeks this week.
