Fishing Report

Snow before 11am, then rain and snow. High near 35. Breezy, with a northeast wind 7 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
Weird weather day with this being a drop in temperature. Some much needed precipitation is falling in light rain at this point. This should not be anything to be overly concerned about as temperatures are warm enough that any snow accumulation will disappear in the next day or so.
Creeks remain clear and very low with temperatures in the low 40s. Fishing has been solid lately despite the spooky fish! Midges and olives are hatching on most creeks around mid day, and the subsurface action on dark nymphs and leeches has been quite good.

On another note, we have had a couple of landowner complaints about parking recently. Make sure you are safely pulling off the road COMPLETELY (you can even pull in your mirrors). If the shoulder is not solid enough, move on. Also, please remember there is NO REASON TO BLOCK ACCESS ROADS. This means driveways and field accesses. Good landowner etiquette means more access and more water. Bad etiquette means posted land and loss of access. Please be respectful.

Sunny, with a high near 65. Breezy, with a southwest wind 8 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph.
Water is extremely low and clear. A couple of the larger creeks are seeing some stain from snowmelt in the later afternoon.
Overall fishing has been good as temperatures are just right for this time of year and we are seeing midges and olives hatching mid day. The water level is a bit of a concern as we do not have a lot of snow left to get into the system.
Today, being very warm, should be a heavy melt day for the snow left on the north slopes and shaded areas. Watch for water temperatures to drop and things to get murky later on in the day.

Areas of fog before 10am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 53. Calm wind becoming southwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.
Another beautiful day in the Driftless! Creeks are extremely low and clear. Temps are in the low 40s.
There is just a little snow left in shaded areas and melting does not interfere with the fishing later in the day as much as it did a few days ago. Keep using your thermometer and fish a rising water temperature.
We have seen some olives hatching and fish rising. With the water as low as it is, using a longer and finer leader is not a bad idea. Approach with as much stealth as possible!
Subsurface fishing has been good on spanish bullets, euro squirrels, and zebra midges.

Cloudy, with a high near 47. East wind 5 to 9 mph becoming north in the afternoon.
Creeks are extremely low and clear. Temperatures are right around 40 degrees.
There is little snow left on the ground. Unfortunately our fishery is missing quite a bit of winter snow and our creeks are very, very low. Approach with caution as they are gin clear and the fish are quite spooky!
Hatches are on and off and include mostly midges and a few blue winged olives. Your best fishing is right below the riffles drifting a small, thin bodied bug either dark or super flashy.

Sunny, with a high near 24. Wind chill values as low as -7. Northwest wind 8 to 11 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.
It’s ugly out there again today. The fish will be active with then bright sun warming the water, but the air temperature will be downright uncomfortable and will instantly freeze you, your fly rod, and the poor fish if you take them out of the water. Better to pass on today and focus heavily starting early next week.
Next week we have temperatures in the 40s to 50s! This should be a kick start to spring conditions.

Scattered flurries with isolated snow showers before 10am, then scattered flurries after 4pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 21. Wind chill values as low as zero. Breezy, with a northwest wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Cold today and tomorrow. Sunday it warms up quite a bit! The warm day on Sunday will continue to melt what little snow is left (mostly shaded areas and north slopes). It is possible to get warm enough to muddy things up on Sunday and into Monday. Tuesday is looking very nice at this point! We will keep you posted of course!

Creeks are very low and clear. Temps in the high 30s to 40.
Still waiting on just a bit of a warmup for consistent fishing. While there are windows of opportunity, it just ins’t prime right now. Sunday changes the weather pattern with air temperatures reaching the low 40s!
There is little snow left on the ground right now, so melting isn’t a huge concern, but it is still worth checking water temperatures throughout the day. Once they start to drop, things shut down quickly!

Partly sunny, with a high near 29. Northwest wind 6 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.
Creeks are low and clear with temperatures in the high 30s to low 40s.
Creeks in the open valleys are pretty much snow free. Ones with shade still have a bit of melting to do.
The rest of the week is very chilly until Sunday when the temperature is supposed to hit almost 50 degrees. All of next week looks quite good temperature wise and could be the start of thawed out fishing. While there has been decent winter fishing here and there, it has not been worth an investment in drive time yet. Next week should change things!

Sunny and warm (for winter!). The wind will be a pain in the butt however. We go into a chilly stretch of days heading into the weekend (Sunday looks good again).

A chance of snow before 10am, then scattered flurries between 10am and noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 32. Northwest wind 10 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Saturday night did give us some rain and significant melting. Things were pretty muddy Sunday. There is fishable water out there right now, and fish have been feeding well on leeches and scuds subsurface. On sunny days there are even some rising fish mid day!
We are still hesitant to say it is worth a long drive for fishing. We’re still only fishing a few hours mid day when water temperatures are climbing, and things shut down in the later afternoon when the temperature drops.
If you are going crazy being inside, the next few days will be relief from cabin fever and you might catch a few fish! Otherwise, wait a few more days as things will start getting better very soon!
