September 28th Fishing Report

A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 56. Light northwest wind increasing to 10 to 15 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Cloudy and windy today. It will take a bit of time for the terrestrial bite to get moving as things need to dry out and warm up a bit. Early in the morning fish scuds, leeches, and other bead heads subsurface. Right around mid day the terrestrial bite could turn on, especially with the winds. If it turns drizzly in the afternoon, continue to fish subsurface and watch for an olive hatch.
Creeks are clear and a bit low with temperatures in the 50s.

September 26th Fishing Report

Mostly cloudy, with a high near 77. South wind 7 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.
Creeks are clear and a touch low with temperatures in the low 50s.
Hopper dropper is still the way to go as the wind today will blow lots of food into the creeks.
The mid afternoon and evening we should see some olives hatching. If you see rising fish toss a parachute, user friendly or even a simple ant!

September 24th Fishing Report

A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 10am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 71. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 9 mph in the morning. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Cooler. cloudy, and potential drizzle. A trout anglers dream weather report.
The last couple of days were a bit difficult overall due to crystal clear water and sunny skies. The clouds today will hopefully supercharge the bugs and trout.
Watch for olives in the afternoon/evening as they love hatching in these conditions (User Friendly Olive size 18). Otherwise keep fishing the trusty foam foam/dropper. Remember scuds are more active in cloudy weather.
With the clouds, the leech and streamer bite will be better too all day long!

September 23rd Fishing Report

Sunny, with a high near 78. South wind 3 to 8 mph.
Warmer and sunny weather means the terrestrial bite will be the main attraction again today. Hoppers, ants, beetles and hippie stompers are the leaders in the surface game right now. Actual hatches are sparse due to the clear water and sunny skies and happen in the last hour or so of the day or in shady areas.
Subsurface fishing has been best on slimmer bodied bugs such as spanish bullets and food.
Creeks are clear and a touch low with temperatures in the low to mid 50s.

September 22nd Fishing Report

Mostly sunny, with a high near 78. Southwest wind 3 to 6 mph.
Hottest day in a while today. Thankfully it will not move the needle water temperature wise due to recent cold nights and higher spring flows. It will be warm and sunny for a few more days (terrestrial weather) then on the weekend turn to cloudy and possible drizzle (olive hatch weather). Either way we win!
Creeks are clear and flowing well with temperatures in the low 50s. The clear creeks and sunny weather are making fish a bit spooky especially mid day, approach with stealth!
The hatches are underwhelming with a few olives and midges in the last part of the day, as well as some egg laying caddis. The main surface activity is on terrestrials right now. Hopper or hippie with a dropper is staple, but do not neglect fishing ants and beetles underneath overhanging vegetation and next to the banks.
Subsurface is all across the board, but the general rule of thumb of thinner profile/clear water is holding true. If the sun goes behind some clouds, or in the early morning and evening do not hesitate to fish something with a bit more meat on it (including streamers and leeches)

September 21st Fishing Report

Mostly sunny, with a high near 73. South wind 7 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
A slight uptick in temperatures this week with highs in the mid to higher 70s. This will not influence the fishing in a negative way except for the mid day lull. The past few days the fishing has been good in the mid morning to about mid day window then things seem to shut down until around 2. After that it picks back up again.
Creeks are clear and flowing well with temperatures in the low 50s. Hatches are sparse but we still see fish rising to some midges and olives in the last part of the evening. Otherwise surface fishing continues to be solid on terrestrials. Fishing a larger foam pattern or hopper with a dropper is still the way to go, but do not neglect fishing an ant or beetle close to overhanging structure.
Subsurface fishing is best on anything purple and tungsten, as well as leeches and smaller streamers.

September 19th Fishing Report

Sunny, with a high near 63. South wind 5 to 9 mph.
Creeks are clear and flowing with temps in the low 50s. Conditions really could not be better for this time of year! While the hatches have slowed down a bit we are still getting some rising fish later in the day to small olives and midges. The hatches will return when we get a bit more cloud cover. However, the terrestrial bite is quite good right now!
Early in the morning most of the fishing is subsurface on food, purple drank, and euro squirrels. As the ground warms up and the dew burns off, then the terrestrial fishing starts up! Fishing a training wheel or hopper with a bead head below is the way to fish all day long!
If you’re looking for some larger fish, leeches and streamers (and even mice) are getting some larger and aggressive fish to eat, especially when the sun is off the water.

September 17th Fishing Report

Mostly sunny, with a high near 63. North wind around 8 mph.
Fishing remains more than good on hippie stompers and training wheels with bead heads dropped below. With the bright sun, the olives will not hatch as early, look for a few in the evening. The sun will get the terrestrials moving again though! Go back to fishing ants, beetles, hoppers etc.
Creeks are clear and flowing well with temperatures in the low 50s. In other words, just about perfect for late summer/fall fishing!
Remember to try leeches and streamers too. With the water temperature dropping we are getting more aggressive eats on bigger bugs.

September 16th Fishing Report

Mostly sunny, with a high near 72. West wind 10 to 13 mph becoming north in the afternoon.
Creeks are clear to slightly stained with temperatures right around 50 degrees.
With the recent sunny and drier weather, terrestrials are back on top! Fishing a hippie stomper, or a training wheel with nymphs below has been excellent lately. We’ve been getting some bigger fish to eat the surface bugs too!
Subsurface fishing has been good on brush hogs, perdigons, squogs, and energizer squirrels.
When you are done fishing a spot with dry dropper, run a leech through there and hang on! Leeches and smaller streamers are cleaning up!
If fish are rising, they are most likely eating olives. We’re seeing olive emergences pretty much area wide even on the sunniest days.
Remember season ends after the 15th of October, get out here and fish before season closes.

September 14th Fishing Report

Areas of fog before 9am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 73. South wind 6 to 9 mph.
Creeks are clear to slightly stained with temps in the low to mid 50s area wide. Excellent late summer conditions!!!
We are seeing olives daily, and with the drier weather, fish are feeding on hoppers, user friendlies and hippie stompers again! Guides are fishing foam with a dropper until the afternoon when the olives are hatching. They are then switching over to mayflies when fish are rising.
Subsurface is a mix of everything. From squirrels and scuds to spanish bullets and zebra midges. Just keep switching profile and color and the fish will let you know what they want.
The streamer bite is on! Fish large and small are chasing and eating small streamers and leeches.
