Fishing Report

A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 4pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 79. Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph.
It’s still terrestrial season, nothing beats a hopper/dropper right now!
We do have some rain forecasted over the next few days. Nothing that should ruin the fishing however! The rains do tend to slow down the terrestrial fishing as wet ants, beetles, and grasshoppers don’t like to move around as much. When this happens, expect much more activity subsurface, especially on scuds! Scuds are FAR more active when the sun is not shining, and if we actually get a little extra water coming through the creeks, the scud fishing in the summer can be fantastic.

Warmer and sunny today. Normally that would be cause for concern, but given the good stream flows and temperatures it is actually a good thing for the creeks. With the sun shining down and a slight breeze, the terrestrial fishing will continue to be solid! Toss some ants underneath overhanging vegetation or splat a beetle or hopper near the banks and hold on.
Creeks are in great shape with low-ish flows and temperatures in the low to mid 60s. Only the largest creeks are slow due to warmer water temperatures. Please continue to use your thermometer all summer long. While there are smaller creeks and tributaries out there in the high 50s, some of the bigger waters are hitting 70 plus degrees.

Creeks are clear to slightly stained with temps in the low 60s. We have been very lucky with water temps so far this season with only the largest creeks getting into the mid 60s. The rains and cooler evenings have helped a ton.
With sunny days head and the tricos slowing down quite a bit, put your mind into terrestrial and hopper/dropper mode. Trout are loving beetles and hoppers splatted on the surface lately! There are still a few fish rising in the evenings to midges and egg laying caddis. They will also readily eat parachutes and klinkhammers.

Even with a bit of rain yesterday and into today, things are in excellent shape right now. Creeks are clear to stained with temperatures in the low 60s. This has been a really solid couple of weeks for trout in the summertime!
We are still seeing a few tricos in the mornings, but the spinner fall is much weaker than a week or two ago. Early morning, besides nymphing, we are catching fish on larger (12-14) parachutes and klinkhammers.
From later morning through the day it is terrestrial time. After that, switching to the parachutes or caddis pattern for rising trout in the evening is quite good.
Streamers and mice at night have been really good lately, with a few people hooking some larger fish!

Showers, mainly before 2pm. High near 67. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Clouds and drizzle through the day and into tomorrow. The temperatures are not awful and fishing will continue to be quite good out there! It has been mild enough that we are not freaking out about water temperatures right now. It is still a good idea to check them throughout the day (remember anything over 65 will be slow fishing).
Overall creeks are clear to slightly stained with temperatures in the low 60s.
True hatches are sparse with a few tricos in the mornings, and lighter colored mayflies and some egg laying caddis in the evenings. The main food source is terrestrials!
Throwing and ant or beetle in the mornings, then switching to hoppers when the dew is off the grass can be a ton of fun right now. We have had fish racing to crush a well splatted terrestrial on the surface all week long!

Creeks are clear to stained with temps in the low 60s. This has been an excellent summer for trout conditions!
In the midsummer, the timing of good fishing can change a bit. If you are out there too early and the tricos do not show up, fishing is slower until the sun shows up and the winds start to blow a bit. While this might seem to go against everything trout brained at first, remember that the main food item on the surface right now is terrestrials. Early morning dew on the grass and chillier temperatures mean they are not moving around as much. They need a bit drier land and wind to blow them into the creeks!
Nymphing continues to be good all day long. Thinner bodied bugs like zebra midges, spanish bullets and perdigons are excellent, as are the old standby brush hogs and purple drink.

Creeks are clear to slightly stained. The rains over the weekend have all but worked their way out of the system except on the largest waters.
Simple menu for trout right now. It is all about the hopper (or beetle) with a dropper. This will continue for most of the summertime until things cool down in later September.
Sunlight is the limiting factor for sure, so find the shade and fish early and late for the best results.

A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 73. Northwest wind 7 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.
WIth another inch of rain falling yesterday many of our creeks are heavily stained to murky. There is fishable water out there though, Check the tributaries and headwaters.
Things are dropping and clearing well, and we are looking at a nice weather week ahead. Wednesday will be the warmest at 84 degrees, while every other day is in the mid to high 70s. It is the prime terrestrial season with hoppers, ants, and beetles leading the way (tie a dropper on below for even more success!). Tricos are still around but not in crazy numbers first thing in the mornings, and in the evening fish are rising to a mix of egg laying caddis and some midges and lighter colored mayflies.

Monday will be cool and cloudy continuing the great weather from last week. A brief warm up on Tuesday and Wednesday. Wednesday we are forecasted for some summer showers that drop the temperatures again for the weekend. All in all a solid looking week for August!

Tricos in the mornings, then terrestrials with droppers all day. The hopper and beetle bite has been quite good. Water temperatures are good right now in the upper and middle sections of the creeks, while being a bit warm in the larger creeks and lower sections. Use your thermometer.

Fish are holding in and below the riffles especially in shady undercut banks. The sun is our limiting factor right now, fish early and late and find the shade to find the happiest trout. If you can, take an early dinner and stay out a bit later the last couple hours of the day have been very fun! Staying a bit later and swinging a mouse pattern in some of the deeper spots and slow pools at night has been fun too!

Creeks are clear and a bit low with temperatures in the low 60s.

An unusually pleasant weekend of weather ahead of us. This cool week really has fishing going strong. We’re dialing back on the every day fishing report as there are only so many times and ways you can write:

The sun continues to be the limiting factor, it is much more difficult to find willing fish mid day. Fish early, fish late, and find the shade for better fishing. Shade can be an undercut bank, or even as small as some overhanging grass.

Evenings we are still seeing rising fish. A simple parachute or klinkhammer will get the job done there. Have a few in lighter colors (PMS) and a few dark (Adams or purple)
