May 4th Fishing Report
A chance of showers and thunderstorms between 3pm and 4pm, then a slight chance of showers. Mostly sunny, with a high near 75. Breezy, with a southwest wind 10 to 20 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Creeks are clear and flowing well, water temperatures are in the low to mid 50s area wide. This is peak Driftless!
The sun is high in the sky lately, and fish are spooky in the clear water. Lengthen your leader, upgrade to a clear tip line, or focus on the shaded or faster moving water.
Caddis are hatching here and there daily, both black and tan. We are loving the Splitsville caddis right now!
A few craneflies are around as well.
Subsurface fishing has been good on perdigons in the morning, and thicker bodied bugs (drank!) later in the day.
The leech and streamer fishing has slowed down mid day, but still solid when the sun is off the water.
