December 4th Advent Calendar Fly
This glass bead leech has become a go to fishing right below the riffles, or in a tandem rig in deeper pools behind a heavy bead head (nymph with a leech dropper!). Lots of movement, lots of sparkle.

Super flashy, shiny beetle. Great to plop right next to the bank or below overhanging branches. Effective all summer long, but especially when the Japanese beetles are around.
One of our guide’s favorite do it all flies. It can be a caddis, or a mayfly, or a terrestrial, or even a cranefly. Great profile on the water, and easy to see with the hot spot wing.

Both of these flies are guide ‘go to’ flies. The brush hog has been one of the best producing flies for the entire time we have been here. The dark head Frenchie mimics a bit of everything. A jack of all trades driftless pattern.
This is your LAST CHANCE to get an advent calendar online. We will ship them through Tuesday November 25th and they should (barring any delays from the postal service) arrive on or before December 1st…
We will have some available in store for twinklefest (the evening of November 28th) and small business Saturday (hours 9-5).
Due to overwhelming popularity, some of the Old Fashioned T shirts and stickers are out of stock. We will get them back in in early December (delivery should be here December 4th). If you are waiting on your order to ship, please bear with us and THANK YOU for your support!
Our Advent calendars are in stock and available. We will stop taking orders for them this Sunday November 23rd so we can get them in the mail and to you (barring any shipping delays) by December 1st.
New GT rods are lighter and sportier than their predecessors yet still possess smooth progressive actions, tremendous feedback, and incredible tippet protection that have kept dedicated anglers fishing the previous three generations of these rods for almost 50 years.
We have been lucky enough to fish these rods for a while now and are incredibly impressed. Somehow the wizards at Scott Rods made one of our favorite rods cast, fish and feel even better!
An homage to the classic supper clubs of the Driftless area, our Mr. Old Fashioned shirt features a small shop logo on the front left chest and a larger graphic on the back. Whiskey or bourbon? It’s your call….
The physical store is still closed until the holiday shopping season. If you want or need anything please email us as we are checking email and the website daily!
We do have limited guide trips available over in Iowa again this off season. The fishing usually remains solid until about Thanksgiving with a mix of nymphing, attractor/dropper and on slightly warmer days like we have next week, some possible olive hatches in the afternoon. Let us know if you are interested as we’re ready to be back on the water with you!
And what a note to end on. About 1 inch of rain last night and drizzle and clouds predicted all day today. Should be some incredible fishing out there.
The shop is only open until noon.
Remember there is NO TROUT FISHING allowed after today on our waters. Not even catch and release.
The shop will close for a bit so the team can take a well deserved break. Please email us with any questions you have.
