Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 65. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Cloudy and miserable weather this morning, trout anglers are happy! Through the weekend we’re looking at a bit of a warmup, but the clouds are forecasted to stay overhead which will keep fishing on a solid footing.
Remember season ends in a week (fishing through the 15th of October, closed on the 16th)!
Creeks are clear to slightly stained with only a quarter to half of an inch of rain over the past 24 hours. Again, misty and miserable (great trout fishing weather!).
Bug wise, nothing much has changed. Still doing indicator foam dries with a bead head below (hopper dropper), rolling heavy nymphs below the riffles, and fishing leeches and streamers all day long. Watch for the olives in the afternoon too. The hatch has been spotty, but when you find the right pod of bugs dry fly fishing can be fantastic!

Wisconsin season closes after the 15th! Only a few more days to get out and trout fish in the Driftless!
Creeks are clear and a bit low with decent temperatures right around 60 degrees. Fish are happily eating subsurface on scuds, pink squirrels, and leeches first thing in the morning. Fishing a terrestrial near mid day when things warm up a bit on the banks is also quite good. Later in the afternoon/evening we are seeing some fish rising to midges and small olive mayflies.

Perfect trout fishing conditions forecasted pretty much every day this week. If it is drizzly and cloudy things are good in the Driftless!
Conditions are right to see our afternoon olive hatch that gets fish rising. They have appeared in the later afternoon the past couple of days.
Otherwise, we are still fishing attractor dries with bead heads below, or stripping leeches and streamers below the riffles. Remember season closes the middle of this month, so get out there and fish!

No rain fell last night in our tri-county area. This morning it was misty/drizzly. Things are in excellent shape for some happy trout today. Creeks are clear to slightly stained and have had a couple of cooler nights to drop water temperatures.
Scuds and leeches will be very effective this morning with the cloud cover, and the chance of seeing olives hatch in the afternoon is higher with this weather pattern!

Season ends soon! You can fish through the 15th of October but it closes completely (no inland trout fishing at all) on the 16th!

Creeks are clear and a bit low. Temperatures are in the low 60s to mid 60s but will cool rapidly over the next few days.
The clouds finally arrived! There has been no significant rain and creeks remain clear. The cloud cover should put the trout in a better mood, and there is a chance to see the olive hatch re appear this week! Watch for rising fish in the afternoon.
Otherwise fishing your normal terrestrial with a bead head below, focusing on the shin to thigh deep water below the riffles will catch fish.
With the clouds, the leech and streamer fishing will pick up again toO!

SEASON CLOSES ON THE 16TH!

The clouds they forecasted today aren’t arriving. Instead we are stuck with another hot and sunny day! Fish early and late, and find the shade to find happy fish. The cloud cover over the weekend should make fishing far better and get the olives showing up in better numbers in the later afternoon.
It’s hopper dropper until the evening when fish will rise to mayflies and midges.
Subsurface fishing has been best on purple drank and surrenders.

Clouds and light rains move in tonight which should bring back the olive hatch. In the meantime continue fishing the hopper/dropper.
Creeks are clear and flowing a bit low with very good water temperatures.
The streamer and leech bit is also heating up. As we head into fall, the fish are starting to get aggressive and pack on some pounds. The leaves are starting to change, temperatures cooling and the trout are happy!

Things are good here, but improving later in the week. We have clear and sunny skies and while the fishing is still good, fish are quite spooky in the clear water.
Seek out shade, fish early and late, and focus on the turbulent water below the riffles.
Things cool down and get cloudy and drizzly later in the week! We should definitely see the olive hatch return then. For now, it is hopper/dropper and small leeches.

It’s still hopper season, and the creeks are in good shape flow, temperature and clarity wise. It’s the dang sun that is slowing things down! Fish early, fish late and find the shade to find fish.
Hatches are sparse and early and late in the day. Hopper or beetle with a bead head below the rest of the day.

Cool and an overcast afternoon! Couldn’t ask for better weather for the weekend. Even though Sunday will be a bit warmer (high of 75) things are still quite good out there right now, and will only get better with the clouds this afternoon.
Nymph in the morning, later morning switch to terrestrial/dropper, and watch for olives in the later afternoon. There are also some smaller white mayflies out there too (fish a greased lightning!)
