A warmer week this week. The light rains recently have kept water temperatures in check, but we are starting to see a few larger creeks hit the mid 60s temperature wise. Overall creeks are low and clear with temps right around 60 degrees. The next few days heading into the weekend look to be brutally hot. It is time to start using your thermometer. Anything over 65 will be poor fishing and much warmer than that you will start to stress trout. The good news is that things cool down after the weekend.
Fishing is solid in the mornings on soft hackles, scuds, and flashy bead heads. There are still some fish rising to rusty spinners at first light too. Once the sun hits the water, the fish start to hide in the undercut banks below riffles. They venture out again in the evening to fish on the sulphurs and cahills hatching late in the day.

Looking at temperatures right around 80 each day this week, then a super hot weekend. IF the clouds stay overhead and the rains actually show up, things will remain pretty good fishing and temperature wise. If the sun shines down on the creeks then things will warm up quickly and fishing will slow down except for the first few hours in the day. We will keep you posted!
Creeks are low and clear now with temperatures in the high 50s to 60 area wide. Exceptional temps for this time of year! Fish are feeding subsurface in the mornings on small and flashy bead heads. You may see some fish rising to rusty spinners the first few hours of the day too before the sun hits the creeks.
. Mid day is terrestrial and dropper time focusing on the riffles and anywhere you can find shade. Later in the day we are seeing our lighter body color mayflies hatching. The hatches are spotty, but the fish are looking up for them most evenings.
If the rains come in, switching to thicker bodied subsurface bugs as well as scuds and leeches is a good idea!

Creeks are low and clear with temperatures in high 50s. Fishing remains solid and steady for the middle of June. We are seeing a handful of caddis still, as well as some lighter colored mayflies hatching near the evening.
Subsurface fishing has been great lately on purple drank, zebra midges and euro squirrels.
Instead of an indicator, we are fishing them below hippie stompers and beetles.
The weekend looks warm but with some clouds and light rain! The heat doesn’t matter too much to the water temperature if there are clouds in the sky.

About half an inch of rain fell overnight with a bit more south of Viroqua. Overall creeks will not be affected by this rain and will remain clear to slightly stained. The cool rains will, however, refresh the system and put fish in a great mood!
Lighter colored mayflies are showing up in the evenings, and the terrestrial bite on the surface (beetles and ants) is picking up daily. With the cloud cover we could see rising fish all day long.
Subsurface fishing has been solid on some larger bugs and leeches along with the standard pheasant tail/perdigon body style. If you find some stained water try a worm patterns!

Creeks are low and clear with temps in the mid to high 50s. Excellent conditions for this time of year!
There is a small cold front rolling in tonight, and with it the chance for some light drizzle over the next few days! The streak of great trout weather this June continues.
Fish are eating beetles and ants on the surface all day long, and are keying in on lighter colored mayflies later in the evening or if the sky remains cloudy.
Subsurface fishing has been best on perdigon style flies or medium thickness patterns like the Euro Squirrel.

Borderline hot here today and tomorrow as a brief warm front rolls in.
Overall the creeks remain in great shape with water temps in the mid to high 50s. They are also still crystal clear which means spooky fish. Approach the creeks with as much stealth as possible.
Fish are feeding on beetles with droppers throughout the day, Mid day on warm and sunny days like today we will see some caddis hatching. The evening is still giving us lighter colored mayfly hatches, usually the last two hours of the day.
When the sun is out and it is warmer out there, either chase the shady sections of creeks, or concentrate on fishing the riffles and broken water where fish are less exposed.

What a weekend! After a ton of fun at the Drive In show on Friday, and cloud cover and drizzle on and off, the fishing was solid all weekend long.
With some cloud cover and continued cooler weather the next few days, trout will be very happy.
Sulphurs and caddis are the main menu items right now. We’re fishing a caddis with an emerger behind it all day long, switching to some lighter body colored mayflies in the evenings.
Subsurface fishing has been great on pretty much everything again thanks to the lack of bright sun.

The area received about 3/4 to an inch and a half of rain in the past 24 hours. Most creeks were not changed at all, with only a couple getting a bit stained. As of this morning everything is mostly clear to stained!
The sun continues to be the limiting factor on our low and clear creeks. Fish early, fish late, and find shade to find the happiest fish.
We are seeing lighter colored mayflies hatch the last couple hours of the day, and a few caddis in the afternoon. Through most of the day fishing an edible indicator (terrestrial, hippie stomper etc) with a bead head below in the riffles and runs will catch fish when they are not rising

It’s unfortunate, but the rains look like they will only drop a little bit on us again. Our creeks remain very low and clear. Thankfully, the cooler weather ahead means fishing will continue to stay solid! Days with a bit more cloud cover are better than bright and sunny days.

Warm and sunny today. Tomorrow is calling for some (much needed) rain then a cool down for the rest of the week. Excellent, and trout friendly conditions for fishing and for the Drive In Fly Fishing Show and Casting Carnival!
Creeks are low and clear with temps in the higher 50s. Nothing special today, it will be hot so concentrate on fishing early and late and take a break mid day. A few fish rising to spinners first thing in the morning, then we are switching to beetles with a dropper, then in the evening, watch for the sulphur and Cahill mayflies as they are hatching around the last 2 hours of the day.
Subsurface fishing is best on thin bodied bugs right now. Perdigons, pheasant tails, zebra midges etc.
