Fishing Report

Showers likely before 1pm, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm between 1pm and 4pm, then showers likely after 4pm. High near 62. North wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
It’s miserable out there for anything other than trout! This cooler and cloudy weather should have fish in a pretty good mood. Through the weekend concentrate on scuds subsurface (still fish them below dark foam flies, think purple hippie stomper and purple training wheels) as well as leeches and pink squirrels. On paper, this is really solid weather to see some early hatches of olives. Keep an eye out for rising fish in the afternoon. If that hatch shows up, it will be a lot of fun in the afternoons.

Another solid hopper day today, but we can’t stop looking forward to Saturday through Tuesday. Temperatures are not supposed to top 67 degrees, we are forecasted for drizzle and clouds all day long too…. That looks like olive weather to us!
Creeks are in great shape for late summer with only a handful of larger creeks and lower sections hitting the mid 60s water temperature wise. On bright sunny days like today, your best bet is to toss terrestrials. Fish are happily eating hoppers in the shallower, broken water and up against undercut banks.

Another great hopper day! Warm-ish, sunny and windy. We get 2 more of these, then the temperatures drop and we get some clouds and drizzle. That weather could be very good to see our late summer olive hatch show up.
Creeks are in excellent shape for late summer, with only a couple too warm for effective fishing. We’re fishing hoppers and beetles in the shallow riffles, and tying on a bead head below when we are fishing the runs below the riffles. Scuds have been effective in the mornings, then thinner bodied flies like perdigons and zebra midges.
Streamers and mice at night have been solid at night!

Creeks are clear and flowing well for summertime. We have been luck as water temperatures are still pretty low except for the largest creeks. Looking ahead, this week is decent hopper weather (sunny and breezy), but this weekend is getting us more than excited! Cooling down with highs in the high 60s to 70 degrees. A taste of fall is coming up soon!
The next few days, fish you normal terrestrial with a bead head below it as it has been extremely effective lately. Fish are very happy, and only going to get happier as we roll into the cooler weather coming up!

What a weekend! Weather is stable and cool, with just the right amount of wind and sun to make terrestrial fishing great.

Fishing nymphs early, then switching to terrestrials (with droppers in the runs and pools) later in the morning when the dew is off the grass is the way to fish. Hopper and beetle fishing has been quite fun the past few days, and if fish are fussy on the surface, drop a bead head below.

Creeks are clear and flowing pretty well for late summer. Temperatures are in the low 60s to mid 60s area wide with only a few larger creeks too warm for good fishing. Stick to the middle and upper sections of rivers and focus on the tributaries as they usually have more springs that keep temperatures lower.

It will be hot and humid out there today (cools down into the mid 70s for Saturday and Sunday). The cloud cover early will help a ton both with angler comfort and fishing!
Fish are responding to a splatted terrestrial near the banks. They are loving the noise and we have seen some fish come rocketing out from cover to eat. Most trout are in the riffles right now so do not neglect some of the shallow water, even with your big hopper pattern. In the evenings, there will be fish rising. While there is not a major hatch right now, having a few lighter colored (yellow to white) parachutes and some caddis to skitter across the surface is a good idea.

Mostly sunny, with a high near 84. Light south wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 18 mph.
Nothing new to report. Creeks are in great shape for later summer, flows and temperatures good except in a handful of larger creeks. Fish are happily eating terrestrials with droppers. There are some rising fish in the evenings and fishing a simple parachute or caddis emerger and twitching it like crazy has been effective. Right now movement is more important that fly pattern really as the plop and wiggle of a terrestrial is the trigger to get trout to eat.

Fishing over the weekend was quite good! The rains did make some larger creeks murky and some even muddy, but the headwaters and tributaries remained clear to stained and were great!
Expect things to have dropped and cleared significantly as the rains were not heavy or prolonged. Clear to stained area wide with only the large creeks still medium stained to murky.
The week ahead is nothing special, sunny with highs in the high 70s. Great terrestrial weather for sure. The afternoons will be difficult with the sun and warm-fish weather, but later morning into early afternoon should be quite good.
