March 1 Fishing Report

Partly sunny, with a high near 43. Northwest wind 3 to 8 mph.
The melting snow did not completely lock up last night which means we have had a trickle of melting all night long that will continue into today.
Creeks are very low and clear (fish are super spooky) with water temperatures in the high 30s to low 40s. Remember to use your thermometer! Rising water temperatures are good right now, once snowmelt drops temperature or things cool down near the end of the day, fishing shuts off.
We are seeing midges, winter stones, and even a handful of olives out there with some fish rising mid day. Your best fishing is subsurface on perdigon nymphs and scuds or fishing leeches slowly over the deeper pools.

February 28th Fishing Report

Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 45. Southeast wind 5 to 9 mph becoming west in the afternoon.
We have little snow left on the banks (which hopefully will not be a problem going later into the season as our water levels are very low right now). A warmer, sunny day like this will be a melting day and should release a bit of icy water into the creeks. It is essential on days like this to make sure to use your thermometer and fish while the water temperature is rising. There is a sweet spot right around mid day that temperatures are good up until the snowmelt starts to hit the creeks. The moment that happens, fishing slows down or stops outright.
We are still seeing midges and a few winter stoneflies, and some anglers have reported even seeing a few olives hatching. Fishing a smaller, dark bodied pattern subsurface to start the day, and switching to a klinkhammer or tilt wing if fish are rising is the normal rhythm for the winter season. Do not overlook streamers and leeches as we get these warm bumps as some larger fish will seek out big meals this time of year.

February 26th Fishing Report

Sunny, with a high near 33. Wind chill values as low as -4. Southwest wind 8 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.

Last extremely cold day for a while. Things start to pick up temperature wise the next few days. There is a window of winter opportunity opening early this coming week (which happens to be when the shop opens 7 days a week on March 1st!)

February 25th Fishing Report

Partly sunny, with a high near 22. North wind 5 to 7 mph becoming west in the afternoon.
A bit of new and MUCH needed snow yesterday. There is little left on the banks right now.
Today is pretty chilly again, while tomorrow temperatures reach into the low 30s, with the next week looking very solid weather wise.
Shop is open Saturday from 9-2 and starts 7 days a week March 1st!
Midges and winter stoneflies are around daily now and with the temperature increase things should finally start to get active. Remember your thermometer! You want to be fishing a rising water temperature. Once snowmelt starts trickling into the system or it cools off naturally, fishing all but shuts down in the winter.

February 23rd Fishing Report

Partly sunny, with a high near 14. Wind chill values as low as -10. North wind 6 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.
Cold weather until the weekend. It’s really not worth bothering to fish until it is sunny and 22 or cloudy and 32 degrees (unless you are already here then you can do some quick trips to see how the fish are feeling).
Shop opens 7 days a week starting March 1st. We will be here this Saturday for you too.

February 15th Fishing Report

Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36. Wind chill values as low as -2. Breezy, with a southeast wind 8 to 13 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 32 mph.
Temperatures are bouncing around all week this week. Tomorrow’s high is listed as 40 but it will start to drop right away with the new weather pattern blowing in tonight.
Nothing great to report conditions wise. Creeks are low and we need much more snow. Overall fishing has been ok, but we have not been overly excited about the consistency overall. Watch for more stable weather for better fishing.

February 12th Fishing Report

All in all this week does not give us anything to get excited about. While mid to later week the temperatures look decent, the overnight lows are still in the negatives meaning sluggish fish and sparse hatches usually.

Overall this week is nothing to get too excited about. Wednesday and Thursday could be good, but there is a chance of some slushy mess coming on those days too.

Shop opens 7 days a week starting March 1st!

February 8th Fishing Updates

Partly sunny, with a high near 38. South wind 8 to 11 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.
Warm and sunny early this week, then some weird winter weather but decent temps. This is a narrow window to find some happier fish in the winter. Leeches and midges will be key. Focus on the mid day fishing as rising water temperature will be key. The little snow we have on the banks will begin melting and drop the water temperature quite a bit. Once that happens, fishing will shut down completely. If it gets too bad things might even muddy up.
Shop is open on Saturdays and will start 7 days a week March 1!

Partly sunny, with a temperature falling to around 23 by 5pm. Breezy, with a light west wind increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 28 mph.
While today’s temps are good, the rest of the week tanks into highs in the teens. Not good fishing conditions. The cold front starts rolling in this morning so if you are out today, make sure to constantly check water temps Once they start to drop, fishing will shut down.
Shop is open Saturday from 9-2 and you can also e-mail us to set up an appointment. 7 days a week starts March 1st!
